Happy Birthday! Malcolm X

Good News fellow Towners! The forecasters are predicting that today will be the warmest day of the weekend so you should pack your picnic basket and head on out to my favorite music festival of the year, the
Malcolm X Jazz Festival at San Antonio Park

Hosted by the EastSide Arts Alliance, this is the 12th year of the festival which has the unique ability of uniting the youth of the future with the legacy of our past in a delicious aroma of present day progressiveness. FREE to everyone there will be food, artisan vendors, and three performance stages featuring some of the most talented local artist of music, dance, and spoken word. Guest will include Dimensions Dance Theater, the Kev Choice Ensemble, live painting by Black Diamonds Shining and You. Yes Y-O-U! Because there will be a graffiti wall, a writer’s bench, and a dance court open to all guests to participate. There will also be plenty of arts and crafts for the kids.

A pinnacle of self-transformation Malcolm X was an advocate for civil rights. Best known for believing that people should take action against injustice, “By Any Means Necessary,” he empowered many generations to unify, for the purpose of self-determination and freedom.  He loved to Lindy Hop and Jazz music and there will be plenty of both! Today is his actual birthday! So come and be inspired! Don’t forget your blankets. San Antonio Park is located at the corner of 19th Avenue and Foothill Blvd. This event will be from 11am to 7pm.
