Yummy Bites Your Mother Would Love

It's another beautiful Friday in the Town and we have been promised gorgeous throughout the weekend. So, what are your plans? What about your mommy have you picked up her Mother's Day present yet? Well you can start things off by taking her out to eat...Tonight! Oakland's first recurring food pod, Bites Off Broadway is gearing up for year 2 of their Food Truck Extravaganza. Produced by, Karen Hester, she created as a way to highlight Oakland's growing mobile food scene. Located right in front of Studio One, it has actually helped to revitalize Broadway as a popular Oakland destination. Just like last year, Bites Off Broaday will take place every Friday night and will feature over 15 food trucks including, Tina Tamale, Docs of the Bay, Nick's Breakfast Truck, as well as many newcomers in the industry. Reveled as community event, this neighborhood block party will also feature face painter, hula hoopers, and family friendly movies. You can catch it from May 11th thru October 12th every Friday 5:30pm until 8:30. Studio One is located at 465 45th Street between Lawton and Broadway. For more information visit www.bitesoffbroadway.com or look for them on Facebook or Twitter.

If a party in the street isnt what you think your mother would enjoy, head on out to  James and the Giant Cupcake where the party in your mouth can commence. Tonight they are sponsoring, "Flores de Mayo - A Spring Art Show," which will feature work by local artists Liz Ramsey, Erin Crawford, and Yaminah Abdur-Rahim. Mmmm Mmmm...Good music, delectible cupcakes, and beautiful art! Is always a good combination. James and the Giant Cupcake is located at 6326 San Pablo Avenue. I'm not gonna argue with you because there are oodles of Mother's Day brunch and dinner specials happening all around the Town this weekend. Of course legendary restaurants like Kincaids or Scotts are what makes Jack London Square so popular especially on Mother's Day. But the guys over at www.visitoakland.org are making suggestions that will offer you and your mother stunning views and esquisite ambience of the city I like to call home. You can head up the hill to the Skyline Bistro at Chabot Space & Science Center where they will be serving Creme Brulee French Toast along with many other sweet treats for brunch. Or check out the Toast Wine Lounge located at 5900 College Avenue for their Spiced Rum French Toast and House Smoked Salmon. Two places the I would have never thought to consider. You can get a more thorough view of Mother's Day brunch and dinner specials in happening around Oakland, by visiting  www.visitoakland.org/calendar
