Happy Friday Friends and what a Friday it is. With Cinco de Mayo landing on a Saturday this year it shouldn’t be too hard to find something to do around the town this weekend. But let us start with a birthday party. Its Oakland’s birthday and today would be great day to join in on, “Celebrating 160 Years of Oakland Love.” There’s gonna be cake involved! And what would an office lunch on Friday be if there wasn’t any cake around.
Today just happens to be the last day of the weeklong celebration. This morning gets started with the birthday cake cutting being done with Mayor Jean Quan and City Administrator, Deanna J Santana. The party will be accompanied by music featuring Redwood Day School Activities Rock Band and the Bay Area Blues Society Caravan. The winner of the “Inspire Oakland,” billboard contest will be revealed and an unveiling of a giant birthday card from the community illustrating what we locals love most about, "The Town." Check it out today! 11:30 am -1:30 pm at Frank Ogawa Plaza. By the way, there are birthday activities happening all day all around town today.
